The Booming Industry of Reflexology

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

There are an estimated 15,000-20,000 reflexologists practising in Britain, and around 1.5 million people visit a reflexologist in the UK every year, and some NHS cancer trusts and hospices employ them.

The fact that a growing number of GPs are happy to recommend that patients see a reflexologist privately, and in some cases may be prepared to fund a course of treatment, is an acknowledgement that reflexology has real benefits.

Distant Learning - A Success Story

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

In the West it is easy to think that everyone has access to the Internet or a local college or community. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Universal College of Reflexology is happy to announce an ever growing student family that now has home study students in over 35 countries on six continents around the world, including Venezuela, Greece, Cyprus, Nigeria, South Africa, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Malaysia and India and all points in between.

Some of our distant learning students with no permanent street address have their manuals and study materials sent care of a Bus Stop! If distant education was not available an option - how would they learn? Should they be denied the gift of health that reflexology offers?

Merging science and reflexology

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

By Lauren Slade Author, Researcher and Educator

From the very first course I ever took in reflexology over 25 years ago, I’ve had a passion to discover a scientific explanation of exactly how reflexology works.

It amazes me how many people, including Reflexologists still believe that there are little “crystals” in the feet, which when pressed disperse and so cause a healing reaction in the body! How plausible do you think this sounds to a medical doctor practicing in the 21st century? How can it be with all the incredible scientific discoveries over the last half century that this concept still persists?

SOFT DRINKS: They contain 10 teaspoons of sugar

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

How much sugar do you put in your tea or coffee, if at all? One teaspoon? Two? If you're right there on the edge, it might be three. Well, every time children down a standard 330ml can of some soft drink, they're drinking 10 teaspoonfuls of sugar, a new study has discovered.

The sugar-free version is not a healthy option, either, because that's full of aspartame, which as mentioned in another article published on this web site revealed, is the world's best ant poison.

In the September 2006 Vol. 16, No. 9 issue of Dr. Julian Whitaker’s Health & Healing newsletter on page 5 he writes:

One of our patients’ favorite therapies here at the clinic is reflexology, which involves placing pressure on specific “reflex” points in the feet, hands, and ears. Studies have proven a wide range of benefits for this therapy including faster wound healing, improved circulation, reductions in sleep and mood problems, and declines in gastrointestinal symptoms, to name just a few.

To Have Succeeded

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.

This is to have succeeded.

CHEMOTHERAPY: I’ve started so I’ll finish

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first report of a trial for chemotherapy to treat cancer. And, on such an auspicious occasion, it’s good that we remind ourselves of chemotherapy’s impressive past.

It evolved from the use of poison gas during both the world wars.

THE LUNCH CHALLENGE: Acupuncture works, so who's for humble pie?

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

There's a fair bit of resistance in conventional medicine to the 'energy medicines', such as acupuncture. One specialist once remarked: "Show me the meridian points in the patient's body and I’ll buy you lunch".

After all, it assumes a completely different view of human biology, and therefore must be either completely wrong or the western view of biology is faulty or incomplete. It has to be that black-and-white.

Unfortunately for the medical die-hard, a new study has found that acupuncture successfully treats low back pain, especially if given over a two-year period.

ASPARTAME: It’s the world’s best ant poison

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Those nice people who produce aspartame, the sweetener in diet drinks, have taken quite a hammering of late. So it's great to be able to report on a practical application of the sweetener that puts it in a more positive light.

According to Jan Jenson of Mooresville, North Carolina, it's the world's greatest ant poison. "It works better than the most deadly poisons I have tried. Any time those ants show up again, I simply dump another package of NutraSweet in a corner, and they will be gone for a year or so again," she reports.
