Hand Reflexology Program - AMD1

On-Campus Course Information

Pre-requisite - Completion of Foot Reflexology Program (UCR or recognized equivalent)

Hand Reflexology, although following the same basic principles of Foot Reflexology, is performed quite differently. The feet are usually worked on in one position only, hands however may be presented a number of different ways, held up as if doing a high five, or palms down - thumbs in or palms facing up and thumbs on the outside, thus completely changing the way the Hand Reflexology Map relates to the actual hand.

Some Foot Reflexology courses include a basic Hand Reflexology section in their basic foot program, which is an excellent starting place. However, a focused in-depth 138 hour course specifically on Hand Reflexology is a must add-on for the dedicated Professional Reflexologist. Remember, your confidence level is only as high as your level of training.

Will I get a Certificate?

Yes! A beautiful gold embossed Universal College of Reflexology certificate is awarded upon successful completion.

When would I use Hand Reflexology?

Self treatment, client homework are simple and easy to perform and teach when using Hand Reflexology. Hand Reflexology can also be used when working on the feet is impractical or not possible, such as in an emergency situation.

What teaching styles or methods are used?

Primary method of instruction is a hands-on, interactive lecture/discussion style.  Latest state-of-the-art Power Point Computer Presentations, Videos, group discussions, exams, quizzes and a wide range of  hands-on activities, such as role playing in the treatment session model, are also utilized.  Home Study is an important part of the student’s learning.

A comprehensive easy to follow manual and workbook accompany this workshop. These manuals are filled with diagrams and contain clear and simple instructions on how to perform Reflexology on the hands.  This workshop gives certification as a Hand Reflexologist when the written, practical examinations, assignment and practicum are all successfully completed.  This course is part of the Advanced Reflexology Diploma Program.

When would I use Hand Reflexology?

  • When time is short

  • For self treatment

  • The foot is injured or has an infection

  • Lower limbs have been amputated

  • Client discretion required as in a hospital ward

  • When foot reflexology progress has slowed or stopped

  • To give to a client as homework

Can I transfer my foot techniques to the hands?

NO! Feet can only be presented in one position. Hands can have palm up or palm down, completely changing the position of zone 1 and therefore all the reflexes. Special techniques and knowledge are required to accommodate the flexibility of the hands. Also waistline and diaphragm guidelines are not so clearly defined on the hands, as they are on the feet and the spinal reflexes also present unique differences from the instep of the foot.

  1. Hand Anatomy

  2. Basic Hand Reflexology techniques

  3. Holding techniques

  4. Hand Relaxation techniques

  5. Hand Assessment
